Last week, I had the misfortune to have a wheel bearing on my travel trailer seize up on my way to Mammoth. At midnight Sunday evening, I found myself putting a wheel fire out on hwy 395. Once the fire was out, it was time to figure out whether we’d be able to get the trailer repaired and continue our vacation, or scrub the entire trip. Thankfully, we realized that we were only about 150 yards from Five Rivers Fleet services. Henry, the owner, answered our midnight call and said he would get right to work on it in the morning if we could get there. We dragged our trailer, seized wheel and all, to his yard and camped outside his gate until morning. First thing in the morning, Henry’s mechanic got to work on our travel trailer. Note: they specialize in commercial fleet vehicles, but seemed ready to tackle our trailer. Anyway, his mechanic disassembled the entire wheel / hub assembly and ordered the appropriate parts. At this point, we took off to take our kids to get some breakfast.
By early afternoon, Henry called and let me know the trailer was ready to roll. We came back, and the wheel assembly looked as good as new. His mechanic checked all the other tires, greased the bearings, and gave us the all clear. Henry could have charged me about whatever he wanted. He charged me a FAIR price. Best of all, we made it to Mammoth only about ten hours behind schedule, then made it home safely later in the week. Thank you so much!
